 More than 4,000 Ukrainians declare income exceeding 1M hryvnia in 2017, chief taxman says

The number of hryvnia millionaires in Ukraine increased by 16 percent last year compared to 2016.

As reported by Censor.NET citing the statement by the press office of Ukraine's Fiscal Service, the youngest millionaire is just 7 years old.

"4,063 payers received incomes exceeding 1 million hryvnia (almost $38,000) in 2017. The number of millionaires increased by 16 percent, or by 559 compared to the last year," the agency quoted its acting head Myroslav Prodan as saying.

According to him, the largest number of millionaires – 2,270 taxpayers – are citizens aged 45 and over. The youngest taxpayer who declared the income exceeding 1 million hryvnia (a resident of Cherkasy) turned 7 years old while the oldest one (a Kyiv resident) is 99.

Ukraine's top taxman also said that almost 44 percent of the total number of millionaires are registered in Kyiv (1,816). The list of top regions rich in millionaires includes Kharkiv (299), Dnipropetrovsk (269), Kyiv (275), and Odesa (207).

The official noted that only one person declared income exceeding 1 billion hryvnia.
