A source from among the management of Rovenkyantratsyt Coal Company, which operates in occupied Luhansk, also said that the export of coal from the "DPR"/"LPR" was monopolized by the companies associated with Kurchenko.
The reports about exclusive right to export coal from the breakaway republics being granted to Kurchenko’s companies are also confirmed by the motion jointly drafted by the Russian coal traders, which were previously also involved in Donbas coal trade.
According to one of the petition authors who asked not to be named, the document says that on March 14, 2018, Russian Ministry of Economic Development sent a telegram to RZD Logistics which bans export of coal from "DPR"/"LPR" for any company except for Gaz-Alians.
In turn, a representative of RZD Logistics told the news agency that the company had not received such a telegram while the press service of the ministry said that "this issue is beyond the scope of the ministry."
Meanwhile, coal traders registered in the Russia’s Rostov Oblast and occupied Crimea complained of losses caused by demurrage of their cars loaded with coal.
The "DPR’s" former "senior official" told the news agency that the coal traders suffer "huge losses worth millions of rubles" due to this situation.
