PM Hroisman on foreign-registered cars: "I would have settled this issue within a month"

Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman said that if the parliament delegated the Cabinet to address the issue of cars with foreign registration plates, it would have been settled within a month.

He stated this at a Q&A session in the parliament on March 23, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine TV channel.

Asked by Samopomich faction MP Tetiana Ostrikova, who heads the tax committee’s subcommittee on customs and improvements to the Customs Code, about the cars registered abroad that have flooded the streets of Ukrainian cities, Hroisman said his government could quickly solve the problem.

"I know that you are studying this issue in the committee very carefully. And we are ready to make our contribution so that this issue could be resolved within the framework of the Ukrainian legislation. If you delegate the right to settle this issue to the government, I will resolve it within a month. But if it is meant to be settled by the parliament, then, of course, the opinion of the relevant committee engaged in talks with the association is needed," Hroisman said.

He also said he advocated equal conditions for all the parties.

"Let’s decide together in the parliament what these conditions should be. We are ready to join the discussion and be constructive in our approach. If the majority of Ukrainian MPs decide that this issue must be resolved by means of government resolutions, I will do it within a month," the prime minister said.
