One Ukrainian soldier killed in action, four received combat injuries and traumas in past day, - ATO HQ

The Russian-backed militants employed banned heavy weapons in 12 attacks against Ukrainian troops in the Donbas over the past 24-hour period.

Censor.NET reports citing the latest update by the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) headquarters press center as of Feb. 19, 2018.

"The enemy fired upon the ATO forces’ strongpoints near Hladosove, Novoluhanske and Svitlodarsk in Luhansk section of the forefront with grenade launchers of various types and large-caliber machine guns. The invaders fanned out the defenders of Luhanske village with 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers, and wide range of small arms for over two and a half hours. A mortar strike was recorded on the outskirts of Krymske village."

"The enemy bombarded the Ukrainian troops deployed near Lebedynske, Shyrokyne, and Vodiane in Donetsk direction with 120-mm and 82-mm mortars. The illegal armed groups also employed mortars, grenade launchers, and machine guns against defenders of Pisky.

"The enemy committed a total of 12 deliberate attacks over the past day. Unfortunately, a Ukrainian soldier was killed in action, another one was injured, and one serviceman received combat trauma. Moreover, two military were wounded in a blast as they triggered an unknown explosive device while carrying out a combat mission. We offer our sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the soldier who gave up his life for the peaceful future of Ukraine," the statement reads.

As reported, the Russian mercenaries attacked the Ukrainian troops 10 times on Feb. 18.
