Two Russian mercenaries blown up on militants’ mine field near Svitlodarsk salient, - ATO HQ

On Feb. 18, two members of the so-called 7th separate motorized rifle brigade of the combined Russian and terrorist forces triggered landmines while walking through a mine field the Russian-backed militants themselves deployed near the forward positions of the Ukrainian troops along the Svitlodarsk salient.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) headquarters press center.

"Both militants turned out to be the Russian nationals. One of them, a resident of the Krasnodar Krai Vladimir Vladimirovich Lyubimov, born in 1988, was killed on the spot. Another one, a resident of the city of Astrakhan Sergey Valeryevich Mikhailov, born in 1972, received fragmentation wounds," the spot report reads.

The ATO headquarters doesn’t rule out that the Russian state-run media will try to accuse the Ukrainian troops for violating the Minsk accords and cast blame for the losses among the militants upon the Ukrainian military personnel.

The measures to find out whether these militants belonged to the regular Russian troops are being taken, the agency has said.
