 Ex-MP Oleksandr Shepelev charged with multiple grave crimes detained in Kyiv’s larger area

Ex-member of the Ukrainian parliament Oleksandr Shepelev was detained on the territory of Ukraine after the Russian law enforcers cut him loose in 2016.

A source familiar with the investigation told Censor.NET.

As reported, the Main Military Prosecutor's Office are investigating Shepelev’s involvement in contract killing and attempted contract killing of two or more persons as part of a crime ring, car theft, misappropriation of public funds in Rodovid Bank PJSC, money laundering, and forgery.

Shepelev was put on the international wanted list in late December 2012. He was detained in Hungary in July 2013 and extradited to Ukraine in March 2014.

However, ex-lawmaker escaped custody to evade criminal responsibility in July 2014 while international arrest warrant was issued for him on the same day.

The Russian law enforcers detained Shepelev in the Moscow Oblast on March 19, 2015 on charges brought against him in Ukraine. He was released from the Russian remand prison in August 2016.
