Court cancels pre-trial electronic monitoring of MP Poliakov, - lawyer

Solomianskyi district court of Kyiv ruled to cease electronic tracking of Ukrainian MP, a member of the People’s Front faction Maksym Poliakov.

As reported by Censor.NET, Poliakov’s defender Petro Boiko told Ukrainska Pravda.

"It’s true. The court ruled to remove his ankle bracelet. The court analyzed the risks today and came to a conclusion that the chance [for Poliakov’s escape] had significantly diminished. Expert examinations are still to be carried out and papers on Rosenblat (MP Boryslav Rosenblat indicted under the same charges in the "amber case" as Polyakov – Ed.), not Polyakov are still to be provided by Germany," the lawyer said.

According to him, the court concluded that no excessive pre-trial restrictions were needed since "simple investigative actions" left to be carried out.

Boiko says his client has not been paid his bail money back; he is still obliged to come to the investigator, prosecutor, or court on short notice; he is barred from speaking with the witnesses. Poliakov had also his passports impounded and was barred from leaving Ukraine without permission.
