Well-known Ukrainian activist Krasnopolskyi killed in car crash

Well-known activist and designer Leonid Krasnopolskyi, a former resident of Donetsk, died in a car crash in Dnipro City on Feb. 4.

As reported by Censor.NET citing local news outlet Informator, Krasnopolskyi received fatal injuries when his KIA was rammed by Toyota Prado near Peremohy Naberezna Street in Dnipro City.

According to the eyewitnesses, both cars were heading in the same direction - towards the traffic circle on Peremohy Naberezna. Toyota Prado rammed KIA while it was making the left turn. The doctors who arrived at the scene ascertained death of KIA driver who was later identified as activist Krasnopolskyi.

Krasnopolskyi started helping the Ukrainian army at checkpoints after the beginning of the war in the Donbas. He lived in Donetsk at that time. The militants of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People"s Republic" incarcerated him on denunciation made by his business partner"s daughter. He was lucky to be released in a prisoner swap after which he moved with his family to Dnipro where he set up a business. Krasnopolskyi was a widely recognized activist providing assistance to Ukrainian military deployed on the front line.

The patrol police and the crime scene team are establishing the circumstances of the accident that caused the activist"s death.
