"The minimum wage rose to 3,723 hryvnia (some $132) on Jan. 1. The next increase will bring it up to 4,100 hryvnia, and I am confident that it will actually take place in 2018. The president of Ukraine has submitted an initiative; the government has received an appeal that it should consider the possibility of increasing the minimum wage subsequent to the results of the first quarter. I reiterate that the only goal is to demonstrate the society that the life in the country is changing against all odds, the quality and standards of living is growing, "Rozenko said.

He believes this initiative can be implemented as early as in 2018.

"The increase in the minimum wage is the right step, and I fully support the president’s initiative and I am confident that we will implement it in 2018," the top government official said.
