 Seven Ukrainians confirmed killed in Kabul hotel carnage - Ambassador Nykytiuk

The number of Ukrainian citizens killed in the terrorist attack in Afghanistan’s capital city, Kabul, reached seven people.

As reported by Censor.NET, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Tajikistan and Afghanistan Viktor Nykytiuk told 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"Seven Ukrainian citizens have been confirmed dead to date. We have got files on all these nationals. A number of Ukrainian aircraft maintenance technicians work in Afghanistan while all those killed were employees of Kam Air Afghan airlines living in the Intercontinental hotel," Nykytiuk said.

He added that the Ukrainian consul in Afghanistan must now issue papers necessary to bring the bodies of deceased Ukrainians back home.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin earlier informed the president on six Ukrainians who were gunned down in the terrorist attack in Kabul.

A group of terrorists reportedly attacked Kabul-based Intercontinental hotel on Jan. 20 resulting in multiple casualties among the guests including foreigners. The Foreign Ministry first reported one Ukrainian national killed in attack.

According to the early report by the BBC, the terrorist attack in Kabul claimed lives of 18 civilians including nine Ukraine nationals. Foreign Minister Klimkin later partially confirmed this information.

The latest updates say the death toll of the terrorist attack now stands at 43 people.
