"Positions of the Ukrainian military on the outskirts of Shyrokyne were approached by the enemy subversive and reconnaissance group on Jan. 19. Being exposed by the Ukrainian defenders, the enemy opened fire. The ATO troops were forced to open fire in response with small arms. The saboteurs retreated leaving a wounded member of their group on the battlefield," the spot report reads.
The Ukrainian soldiers promptly evacuated the Russian mercenary and provided him with the necessary medical treatment.
"Ukrainian military doctors spent seven hours trying to save life of the Russian saboteur. He received 1.5 liters of blood plasma. He is currently being monitored by the military doctors in the intensive care unit. He remains in extremely serious but stable condition and is being prepared for the next stage of medical evacuation," the agency said.
