Ukraine's acting health minister initiates tougher sanctions for non-vaccination

Acting Health Minister Ulana Suprun urged Ukrainian lawmakers to stiffen the responsibility for parents refusing to vaccinate their children.

As reported by Censor.NET citing UNIAN, Suprun said at a quastions and answers session in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, Jan. 19.

"We need your help in the following steps: the first one is to amend Ukrainian laws of regulating vaccination and strengthen the responsibility for refusal to vaccinate, as the entire civilized world does," she said.

The acting minister added that the government would draft and submit the amendments to the legislation.

She also called the parliament to enact a new national immunization program drafted by the Health Ministry.

"The moratorium on new programs prevents us from submitting the new program and there is no funds for it. I ask you to support the new immunization program," Suprun said.
