US willing to help Ukraine establish Financial Investigation Service, Finance Ministry says

The U.S.-based Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is ready to assist Ukraine in creation of the Financial Investigation Service (FIS).

As reported by Censor.NET citing UNIAN news agency, this was said by the press service of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry.

The relevant agreement was reached at the meeting of Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk and FinCEN Deputy Director Jamal El-Hindi in the United States.

"During the meeting, the parties discussed the ongoing issues of the agency's interaction with Ukraine's government bodies and possible areas of future cooperation," the press service said in a statement.

Jamal El-Hindi said that FinCEN would actively monitor the establishment of the FIS in Ukraine, the only body to combat financial crimes against the state.

The ministry also said that agreements on training the FIS employees had been reached with the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and the Italian Ministry of Finance.
