Putin says Russia willing to return Ukraine its warships seized in Crimea; Ukraine’s Navy commander denies equipment’s poor condition

President Vladimir Putin of Russia says Moscow is willing to hand over to Kyiv its battle ships captured by Russia in occupied Crimea.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Gazeta.Ru, Putin added that Russia is ready to invite Ukraine’s experts to dispose of Ukrainian ammunition remaining in occupied Crimea since it is allegedly dangerous to relocate it.

He also called the current situation between the countries abnormal and expressed confidence in soonest normalization of relations.

In turn, Commander of Ukrainian Naval Forces Ihor Voronchenko told 112 Ukraine TV channel that the military equipment remaining in occupied Crimea is not ‘junk’ as the Russian Federation had called it.

"Only one out of eight warships - large landing ship Olshanskyi - was out of order when Crimea was occupied. Its main engines needed overhauling. Their statements that our hardware is "junk" are false," he said.

Voronchenko also said that the coast guard failed to take some hardware out of Crimea including two battalions of infantry fighting vehicles and the same number of armored personnel carriers (all units fully operational, 15-20 percent of armored personnel carriers required minor repairs); seven artillery divisions and four mortar batteries (fully operational). All the operational aircraft were taken to Ukraine.

Navy commander stressed that Putin's offers regarding the military equipment should be treated with extra caution not to become involved into another Kremlin’s game.
