Government official Yezhov ‘biggest fish’ caught spying on Ukraine since its independence, - SBU Chief Hrytsak

SBU Chairman Vasyl Hrytsak believes PM’s interpreter Stanyslav Yezhov is the "biggest fish" caught for treason since Ukraine has become independent.

As reported by Censor.NET referring to Ukrinform, the law enforcer said on air of Ukraine TV channel.

"Yezhov is a pretty big ‘fish’. Perhaps the biggest one caught for treason since Ukraine's independence. And it is no secret to say that the SBU investigates many cases against Ukraine citizens suspected of high treason,” he said.

Hrytsak said he could not disclose the exact number of persons under investigation. However, he reminded that those who voluntarily come to the SBU and confess of being foreign secret agents would not be brought to criminal responsibility. "Let me take the opportunity to invite the agents to the SBU and make the relevant confession not to do serious jail time," the SBU chief said.

The law enforcer also hinted that more high-profile spy exposures are coming up soon.
