Ukrainian troops came under 16 attacks in past day including mortar, tank strikes, - ATO HQ

The Russian-occupation forces used tanks and heavy mortars banned by the Minsk agreements to attack the Ukrainian troops in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone on Dec. 21.

Censor.NET reports citing the latest update by the ATO headquarters press center.

“The enemy sniper attacked the Ukrainian soldiers near Krymske village in the Luhansk direction in the afternoon. The militants committed strikes with mortars of various calibers near this village around midnight. The invaders breached truce on the outskirts of Svitlodarsk with grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns.

"The invaders fired upon defenders of Pisky in Donetsk direction with 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers and machine guns and later employed tank armament and 120-mm mortars against them. The enemy also bombarded the outskirts of Vodiane village with heavy mortars.

“The situation in the suburbs of Avdiivka and near Kamianka was tense as well. The enemy repeatedly fired upon the Ukrainian defenses with mortars and infantry weapons.

"In general, the combined Russian and terrorist forces breached truce 16 times over the past 24-hour period. The Ukrainian soldiers suppressed the aggressor’s attacks when appropriate," the situation report reads.

Earlier, the Russian mercenaries fired upon the Ukrainian troops’ positions 15 times on Dec. 20.
