Russian military observers’ withdrawal from Donbas motivated by Putin's presidential campaign, NSDC secretary says

Russian officers were withdrawn from the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of cease-fire in the Donbas (JCCC) due to Putin's presidential campaign.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov told a briefing on Thursday, Censor.NET reports citing the agency press service.

Turchynov says that the withdrawal of Russian officers from the JCCC is "an extremely insidious act of the Russian Federation aimed at disavowing any peaceful, diplomatic, political effort to put an end to the military aggression it has waged.”

"There is no objective justification for the Russian representatives’ withdrawal from the JCCC. This purely political provocation was motivated by Putin's presidential campaign which may be featured by the increasing number of deadly provocations and the intensification of hostilities," the official said.

He was also hopeful that "mechanisms for replacing Russians in the JCCC and resuming the work of this body will be found."

"Ukraine’s Armed Forces are ready to repel any manifestations of the Russian Federation’s military aggression," the NSDC secretary said.
