Ten Ukraine’s Army battalions trained under NATO standards, Ground Forces’ Commander Popko says

Colonel-General Serhii Popko, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that ten Ukrainian battalions were trained according to the NATO standards.

As reported by Censor.NET, the top military official said in an interview with Ukrinform.

Dwelling on the tasks of foreign instructors, he noted: "This work mainly includes training of the Ground and Air Assault troops’ units. Almost 10 battalions have already been trained under the NATO standards over the last two and a half years (the 10th battalion now completes training course).

"Instructors play a very important role: they are involved in training of every single serviceman and collective training of the entire battalion. The staff personnel undergo training at the simulation center. The foreign experts say that the qualification of our servicemen sometimes outmatches the one of the instructors after completion of the training for our soldiers have got field experience in addition to the training unlike most of the instructors who teach them military subjects.

"This is probably why our partners regularly rotate instructors after a certain period of time. This is done in order for more instructors who train our units to learn from the combat experience of the Land Forces of Ukraine," the commander summed up.
