Russian mercenaries breached truce 21 times yesterday, used heavy artillery, mortars, - ATO HQ

The situation in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone remains tense as the Russian-occupation troops continue employing mortars and large-caliber artillery banned by the Minsk cease-fire deal against ATO forces’ positions.

Censor.NET reports citing the update by the ATO headquarters press center as of Dec. 4.

“In the Luhansk direction, the most intense attacks were committed at Svitlodarsk salient near the village of Luhanske: mortars of various calibers and the whole range of infantry weapons were used there with small interruptions almost all day long yesterday.

“A 5-hour long battle also took place in this direction: Ukrainian fighters repulsed the attack of the subversive and reconnaissance group of the invaders from the 7th separate motorized rifle brigade of the 2nd Army Corps of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation. The enemy incurred losses in the clash: one mercenary was killed and two more received injuries. The nilitants fired upon the defenders of Novoluhanske with large-caliber machine guns.

"The invaders endangered lives of civilians by hitting suburbs of Vrubivka, the village located several kilometers away from the contact line, with 152-mm projectiles. The Russian-occupation forces grossly violated the Minsk accords by these insidious actions. The enemy fired over two dozen 120-mm mortar shells upon the defenses of the Ukrainian soldiers on the outskirts of Krymske and Prychepylivka villages.

“In Donetsk direction, the enemy repeatedly employed 82-mm mortars and infantry weapons against Ukrainian troops’ strong points in the vicinity of Pisky and Kamianka.

"A total of 21 cease-fire violations by the invaders were recorded over the past 24-hour period. The Ukrainian servicemen gave fitting rebuff to the aggressor, as appropriate," the situation report reads.

Earlier, the Russian mercenaries fired upon the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ positions 38 times on Dec. 3.
