He noted that after the adoption of the law on the special status of certain districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, according to Ukrainian intelligence services, the leaders of the DPR and LPR had an optimistic outlook on further fighting, which is not aimed at a peaceful settlement of the matter.
"The actions, which are being taken by Russia's terrorist army, indicate that the enemy is not set for a peaceful settlement, but on the contrary, is preparing for an attack," Tymchuk said.
In particular, according to his sources, the terrorists are monitoring capabilities of machine-building enterprises in the territory they control for prompt repairs of damaged armored vehicles.
In addition, they have obviously started preparing for combat operations during winter.
Tymchuk also noted that according to his information, yesterday the Russian leadership did not expect the adoption of the law on the special status of certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions by the Ukrainian Parliament and is currently looking for options on how to respond to this fact.
Tymchuk proposes the Ukrainian authorities in turn to launch a new wave of mobilization, including military engineer-sapper professions.
In addition, he proposes the country's leaders to begin equipping defense in depth, conduct an inventory of defense resources and carry out rotation in the military management bodies.
Regarding defense in depth, Tymchuk noted that Ukraine at the moment is not conducting the demarcation of the border with the territories controlled by the militants.
Commenting on the current situation in the conflict zone, Tymchuk said that he sees no dire need for the forces of the anti-terrorist operation to hold the Donetsk airport and the village of Debaltseve in the Donetsk region.
In his opinion, it is necessary to withdraw the ATO forces from these places and, in particular, destroy the runways at the airport in order not to suffer massive losses in the event of a large-scale attack by the Russian troops on these strategic locations.
