Ukrainian soldiers who are now on the territory of Russia are not "traitors" - the decision to evacuate to the territory of Russia was compelled and approved by the General Staff.

This was stated by Advisor to the Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"I can say that our guys were in a very difficult situation: they were two weeks in the actual encirclement, they were constantly bombarded by Grad and howitzers, and they ran out of ammunition," H erashchenko said on air of the TVi channel.

"As far as I know, this decision was agreed with the General Staff," he stressed. "At least it presented as such in the news media," Herashchenko added. According to him, the military prosecutor's office should conduct an investigation, and then: "I think that these guys can continue to fight for a free and independent Ukraine if they want to"
