Azarov has no Univocal Answer to "Why do we pay money but the roads are bad?"

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov told about the situation with the roads in the country.

The topic was the first in Friday's communication with Facebook users.

"Good afternoon The first thing I want to talk about is what steps the government is taking to fix our roads. I get a lot of complaints, and I do know about the state of the road surfaces. Many people ask "Why do we spend money, pay taxes but the roads are bad?" The answer to this question cannot be univocal," said Azarov.

The Prime Minister wrote: "But in order to understand the situation with our road sector, I will give you some figures. There are 170 thousand km of various roads in Ukraine: international highways - almost 9 thousand km, regional roads - there are more than 10 thousand km of them, and the total length of roads of national importance is about 52 thousand kilometers of roads, including the first category, that is, those on which you can comfortably drive only 2 thousand 731 km. The cost of building 1 km of road surface in Ukraine is about 40 million UAH and it very much depends on what natural obstacles are to be overcome, meaning the need to build bridges, etc., in which case it increases significantly."
