The chairman of the Independent Trade Union of Sverdlovsk Kostiantyn Ilchenko wrote on his blog about the state of affairs regarding the confrontation between the Independent Miners Trade Union (IMTU) of the Red Partisan mine and the DTEK LLC company.
"On the one hand, we were able to get DTEK to the negotiations table and involve the oblast state administration in the process. On the other hand, the city government, the management of the mine, the territorial branch of miners trade union are trying to distort what is happening and make our cause look like pathetic hooligan antics," writes Ilchenko.
"The director of the mine K.Tiumikov yesterday morning gathered loyal middle managers and they all unanimously voted to sack miners, members of the IMTU immediately (like it's 1937) and as a result starting today in violation of the Labor Code Ukraine they are not allowed to perform their duties," he explains.
"The actions of the director of the Red Partisan mine only exacerbate the situation and turn it to the away from being constructive, and towards the escalation of tension," says the Union leader.
"The mayor A.Shmalts never met with us, and moreover, all his public statements are defamatory and not in the least way help to resolve the conflict peacefully, but instead provoke tension of emotions," added Ilchenko.
"This morning using the hot line, I informed DTEK about the illegal removal of IMTU members from work and said that if in the near future people are not be allowed to work, then we will be forced to appeal to the leaders of civil society organizations, trade unions and all citizens of Ukraine with a call to come to the city of Sverdlovsk, in order to jointly oust the criminals from Ukraine," concluded the union leader.
