Popov's statement published on the official website of the Kyiv city administration says: "Because of a potential threat to the economy and the life of the city as a result of the impact of heavy snowfall Kyiv is now officially in the state of emergency. This will allow the capital to engage forces not subordinate to the city authorities."
According to Popov, the round the clock work is organized to address the emergency by municipal services and units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior Affairs, construction companies and industrial enterprises have been mobilized.
Also an address was sent to the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Defense and Interior schools and Security Service regarding the attracting of students to remove snow.
Head of the capital urged motorists to abstain from traveling unnecessarily and not to violate the parking rules in order to minimize obstructions for road services during the intensive cleaning of the road network from the snow.
Thus, in the next days the city will mobilize all available human and technical resources to combat the effects of the weather.
